Harness Analyst – Northfield 10th January Pick 5

We have a nice harness racing wagering opportunity tonight at Northfield Park. There is a carryover of $7,483 into the $1 Pick 5 bet, which starts in Race 6 which is scheduled to go at 7:50 p.m. Eastern.

Let’s take a look at the sequence:

Race 6: 1,3,4

(1) JUST TOYIN WITH YA raced well last time, but he provided perfect cover for the winner, who was full of pace late. He is hard to leave out here starting from the rail.

(4) JOELSYY HANOVER, the big class dropper in this field, won last time he raced at this level. Enough said, he’s on my ticket.

(3) SOUTHWIND BRONN gets Merriman in the bike coming off a failed first-over trip. He is a must use for me here, expecting a more aggressive steer.

Race 7: 5

(5) NIMBLE NED has beaten these twice in a row, but he is morning line second choice to (1) FITZ BOBBINS, who is 1 for 33 and finished 2nd to the choice in the last two starts. I’ll take a stand and single 5. He should notch a threepeat.

Race 8: 1,2

(2) SAWYER’S DESIRE got post relief and Merriman in the bike and he crushed on 12/29. He steps up tonight, but he is the one to catch.

(1) KOKANEE SEELSTER comes off a solid effort in Pennsylvania and he figures to land in the pocket early. That makes him a threat.

Race 9: 1,3,4

(3) WHATS THE TALK is always on the engine and he will be the one to catch here in a spot where he fits well on paper.

(4) KENOBI makes his third start for The Stable and he is expected to do better than he has shown so far. Macdonald had the highest win % of any driver at this track last year and he will put him into play.

(1) TRUE BREW is interesting to me because he could land in the pocket leaving the gate, trip out, and blow up the tote board.

Race 10: 2,3,5

Interesting race here with several getting class relief.

(2) BAIT A HOOK hasn’t raced this low since May 2022 and he crushed by 7 1/2 lengths that night. Expect an aggressive Keith Kash Jr. steer and a form reversal here facing easier from a better post.

(3) PICKLED PREACHER also gets class and post relief tonight. That’s significant and he should take advantage in this spot.

(5) MYTICAL ROCK is another dropper that figures, and he is likely to use his potent gate speed to get position against this group. He is a must-use for me.
