Harness Analyst – Northfield 2nd January

We have harness racing carryovers galore tonight (Jan. 2) at Northfield Park, Home of the Flying Turns.

Race 1 features a $9,234 carryover to the 20-cent Super-High 5

Race 2 has a healthy $14,312 carryover to the $1 Pick 4

Race 4 starts with a $3,107 carryover to the $1 Pick 3

Race 8 has a $2,776 carryover to the 50-cent Pick 6

I’m going to take a look at the Super High-5 (Race 1) and Pick 4 (Race 2)

Race 1:

Cleverly named (2) STABLER, a grandson of Keystone Raider and no doubt named for the great Oakland Raider quarterback Ken Stabler, just wired this class from post 7, so he is the one to beat here drawing inside tonight. The one that I think might be able to take him down is (6) I FEAR NOTHING who raced great in his first try in this class despite missing three weeks after shipping in from Dayton. Getting aggressive teamster Billy Davis Jr. tonight is another plus.

(1) PRIMETIME JAY gets needed post relief and he is one that I will look to get onto the ticket at what should be a good price after he missed checks in two straight.

(4) HASTE MAKES WASTE shows two starts from post 4 and two wins and he is hard to leave off the ticket.

(3) MERRY JERRY should get position in mid pack here and sneak into the bottom of the ticket.

Race 2:

(6) MASTER YOSSI N and (4) POCKET OF TERROR A, who finished 1-2 in the opening leg of this Mini Series are hard to look past in the opening leg of this Pick 4.

Race 3:

This is a tough race here which could produce a price. With the contenders hard to separate, I’ll use all of #s 2,6,7,8 and 9

Race 4:

(2) BETTER OPTION was used hard early vs. better and he made an uncharacteristic break then regained his stride to finish 2nd (placed 4th). If he stays flat here, he should be very hard to beat starting from an inside post.

Race 5:

(7) PUT TO RIGHT will be the one to catch here but he is no lock. I will also use (4) JUST TOYIN WITH YA, who could fall into a great pocket trip following the choice, and (2) MCTHIRSTY who should go better in this spot for tonight’s driver, Davis Jr.
