Harness Analyst – Northfield Park 2nd April

Tonight’s (April 2) harness racing action features a Pick 5 carryover of close to $7,000 at Northfield Park. It’s definitely a hittable sequence on paper. It starts in Race 6.

Let’s see if we can put together a winning ticket.

Race 6: 1,2

(1) WINNER IS COMING shoots for four straight wins, and he figures to get another great trip starting from the rail. He’s hard to leave out.

(2) ALWAYS A HERO is another looking to notch a fourpeat and he has been winning against better fields than his main rival. These two will likely battle for the win.

Race 7: 9

I’m going to single Buffalo invader (9) THORN TOAD who exits some tough races where he got tightened up for this start. He should get a good start following the #1 and I see Merriman making an early aggressive move with him.

Race 8: 1,2,4,5,6

I think this race can go two ways: If class dropper (1) SIR BALLYKEEL stays flat, I think he wins. But he shows breaks in two of his past three starts. If he breaks, anything goes.

Race 9: 1,2

(1) CRUSOE HANOVER comes off a solid effort at this level racing over a good track and he should be right there tonight starting from the best post.

(2) BORN TO RAMBLE easily sailed past the leaders in the lane two starts back when he raced at this level. He looks like the main threat to the rail horse here.

Race 10: 1,9

(1) THEMYSTERYISOVER won close to 1/3 of his starts last year and this is the spot where he should wake up getting the rail, Merriman, and an easier spot.

(9) ANNAPOLIS HANOVER is the other one that is in much easier. His sub-1:50 mark taken last year shows that he is plenty fast enough for these.
