The Grand Circuit invades Plainridge Racetrack today with an exciting card of harness racing lined up. Topping the card is the $250,000 Spirit of Massachusetts Trot for three-year-olds and up. The other Grand Circuit event is the $100,000 Clara Barton Pace for fillies and mares, three-year-olds and up.
Here is my full-card analysis and multi-race ticket ideas:
Best Bet – WORKIN ONA MYSTERY – Race 8
Spot Play – CHAPOLIER – Race 6
50-Cent Pick 4 – Race 3 – 1,2,3,4,6/1,4,5,6/3/8,9 = $20
50-Cent Pick 4 – Race 7 – 1,8/1/4,8,9/2,5,6,7 = $12
Race 1 – 5-4-1-3
(5) LEXUS KODY hasn’t missed the Exacta in five starts since he was given a rest by trainer Burke. Gingras will likely send him right down the road to kick off this great card.
Race 2 – 7-5-4-8
This is an amateur drivers race and I’ll take a stab with (7) ALWAYS GLORIOUS, whose driver sports a 2-3-1 record from 10 drives so far in 2023.
Race 3 – 1-6-3-2
Tough race to kick off the 50-cent Pick 4. I’ll side with (1) FINNBAR who cant get parked the mile this time starting from the rail.
Race 4 – 4-6-5-1
(4) QUICK SHOT gets Dexter Dunn in the bike this afternoon and that might be the edge he needs in this competitive field.
Race 5 – 3-5-2-1
(3) MAX CONTRACT took the worst of it in the Haughton, racing first up into some wicked fractions. I see her turning the tables on (5) MIKALA this afternoon.
Race 6 – 9-8-5-3
(9) CHAPOLIER drops from the open and picks up The Minister of Speed, George Brennan to drive today. I see a big speed try coming from the widest post.
Race 7 – 1-8-7-3
This race kicks off the late Pick 4, and (1) CIGARS AND PORT looks solid from the rail. He gets the call to repeat.
Race 8 – 1-3-7-2
This is a field that (1) WORKIN ONA MYSTERY should handle in the Bert Beckwith Memorial Pace.
Race 9 – 9-4-8-1
(9) ITS ACADEMIC comes into this renewal of the Spirit Of Massachusetts Trot razor-sharp and the wide post may not stop him this afternoon.
Race 10 – 2-5-6-7
(2) TOUCH OF CHARACTER comes off an improved performance and he moves inside today. He could provide some value in this Pick 4 cash leg.
Race 11 – 5-4-7-6
Driver Bruce Ranger had some options here and he chose (5) WINDING HILL. He should be tough on the lead in this spot.
