Harness News Update: Picks and analysis for Oak Grove April 9

Oak Grove hosts a full 12-dash harness race card on Tuesday (Apr. 9).  The feature race is the $30,000 Open Trot in the fifth race.

Last week’s winner, Just For Trix (Trixton) opens at 3-1 morning line odds. He trotter the winning mile in 1:54.1 and won his 14th career race by just over a length. Tyler Shehan will return to the sulky for trainer Mike Murphy.

Sinatra De Vie (Southwind Frank) was the runner-up last week and comes into the race at 4-1. It was charted that he lost by only one-fifth of a second. However, this time he draws just inside of Just Trix which could be the difference maker. Sinatra De Vie’s last trip to a winner’s circle came on Mar. 19 at Rosecroft Raceway and he earned his 11th career win.

 The co-main event on the card is the $18,000 Open 2 Trot in the tenth race. The morning line favourite is Sparks Fly (Bar Hopping) and he opened at 5-2. He finished second in his last race but still posted a 1:55.4 mile. He won his prior start in 1:55.1 at Hoosier Park.
