The harness racing community is mourning the loss of a 27-year-old driver who died following a racing accident at The Meadows in Washington.
Hunter Myers, a 27-year-old father, was taking part in a harness race at the casino on Wednesday night when the accident occurred.
The Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association extended their thoughts and prayers to the Western Pennsylvania and Ohio harness racing communities following the death of Myers.
“Hunter was a young star and was taken too early from us. The OHHA sends prayers and condolences to Hunter’s finance Chloe, their son Hayden, and Hunter’s family and friends,” The organization said in a statement.
The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame also released a statement: “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Hunter Myers, and send our thoughts and prayers to the entire Western Pennsylvania and Ohio harness racing communities as they navigate this tragic loss.”
The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association has canceled racing at the Meadows for the remainder of week out of respect for Myers and his family.
