Harness Analyst – Philly PASS Championship card

We have a great card of Sunday afternoon of harness racing lined up at at Harrah’s Philadelphia. It’s Pennsylvania Sires Stakes Championship day with two divisions for sophomore male pacers and two divisions for fillies.

Here is my full analysis of this 15-race card and some multi-race tickets to consider. Good Luck this afternoon.

Best Bet – BELLA MACCHIATO – Race 5

Spot Play – LYONS STEEL – Race 11

50-Cent Pick 4 – Race 1 – 2,5/2,3,6,7,8/6,8/3 = $10

50-Cent Pick 5 – Race 5 – 7/4,8,6/1,2/1,5,7/4 = $9

50-Cent Pick 4 – Race 10 –  4/1,2,4,5/1/1,2,6,7 = $8

Race 1 – 5-2-3-1

(5) CHAMBA comes into this PASS Consolation on a roll and he is strictly the one to beat this afternoon.

Race 2 – 8-2-3-7

(8) FASHION BYTHEBEACH is 0 for 16 this year but his comeback race was decent and he gets a key driver change to Dexter Dunn to start. I’ll play him at a price from the widest post.

Race 3 – 8-6-4-2

(8) HEAVEN HANOVER is the clear one to beat here despite drawing widest and this race will likely come down to a battle between her and (6) RAILLEE SOMETHING who were 1 1/4 lengths apart in the Hambletonian Oaks and tower over the rest of these from a class perspective.

Race 4 – 3-1-2-4

(3) SOUTHWIND ICENFIRE is razor sharp coming off a lifetime-best score and she should be hard to hold off with her powerful late kick.

Race 5 – 7-2-6-1

(7) BELLA MACCHIATO disappointed at Pocono after getting totally blocked two starts back but this is an easier spot. Top call.

Race 6 – 4-8-6-7

(4) FRENCH WINE just beat the Hambletonian winner and he gets the call to repeat here coming off that mile.

Race 7 – 1-2-8-7

This is an easier spot for (1) AMMO and I see him tripping out racing near the front and getting the job done.

Race 8 – 1-5-7-3

(1) ALWAYS B NAUGHTY, winner of four of her last five and coming in off a career best performance, should be hard to beat starting from the rail here.

Race 9 – 4-1-3-5

(4) SEVEN COLORS has been ultra-impressive in both starts since being sold privately and he is the now horse and one to beat here.

Race 10 – 4-7-3-2

(4) BACKSTREET SHADOW is in top form and when he is at his best, he is very hard to beat; top call.

Race 11 – 1-2-4-5

(1) LYONS STEEL gets crucial post relief here and I’ll try him at a price in a wide-open race.

Race 12 – 1-4-5-3

(1) SKYWAY BEBOP is in easier here after finishing behind tough customers Crystal Fashion and Eurobond and she has a big shot to get back on the winning track this afternoon.

Race 13 – 2-1-7-6

(2) CAPTAIN CRUSADER A seems likely to get a pocket trip in this spot and that makes him a player at what should be a square price; top call.

Race 14 – 4-1-6-3

(4) CRYSTAL FASHION is in sharp form and he will probably be hard to beat as he seeks a fourpeat.

Race 15 – 5-3-1-2

(5) BIG SEE jogged racing off the claim and he figures to take another here facing similar.
