He might be in shock but it’s all systems go for Lochinvar Art

Trainer Lauren Tritton told thetrots.com.au that the reigning two-time Victorian Horse of the Year was doing well and would be set for a trial next month.

“He’s settled in great and he’s feeling amazing,” Tritton said.

“With the snow things just got serious with a drop in temperature so that will be a shock to him, but it’s still all systems go for a qualifier mid-January.”

Tritton said the team was targeting the Borgata Pacing Series, a six-week event for older horses that runs during the early part of next year.

“He will need to obviously have a trial and a few starts before then,” she said.

“We are in no hurry or rushing him as we are hopefully in for a big year for Arty.”

Lochinvar Art headed to Lauren and Shane Tritton’s Pine Bush stables in New York shortly after a sixth placing in the Gammalite Free For All at Melton on September 17.

His outstanding Australian career netted 28 wins – seven at Group 1 level – and more than $1.4million in prizemoney.

Owner Kevin Gordon said the now six-year-old would eventually return to Australia to continue stud duties or live out retirement once his racing days in the US were over.
