Hey Livvy was full of late pace in the Yonkers Raceway $42,000 harness racing Open Trot on Friday as she defeated the boys with a back-half burst.

She left modestly from post three under orders from Jordan Stratton and slotted into the four-hole. She followed through the first quarter mile in :27.3 and half in :57 and made her move to the outside going by five-eighths. Hey Livvy steamrolled past the second and third-placed rivals and reached the leader’s harness as they hit three-quarters in 1:25.1.

Hey Livvy and prior leader Mississippi Storm (George Brennan) entered the lane on equal terms. Hey Livvy did not delay in showing her superiority as she quickly pulled ahead and cruised to the finish to score a 1:54 victory by a length and a half. Mississippi Storm was second-best. Hill Of A Horse (Brent Holland) was well clear of the rest in third.

HEY LIVVY REPLAY

Hey Livvy, Canada’s Older Trotting Mare of the Year in 2020, bolstered her win total to 22 from 63 career appearances with the win, and her earnings are now just short of $450,000. Jeffrey Gillis trains the six-year-old daughter of Donato Hanover for Blue Chip Bloodstock Inc. of Wallkill, Ellen Ott of Buffalo, and Trevor Henry of Arthur.

Jason Bartlett starred on the evening as he collected four consecutive victories from races three to six. There was no movement at the top of the drivers’ rankings as leaders Stratton and Brennan won two apiece.

Patriarch Hanover and Brennan went wire-to-wire in 1:54.4 in the $30,000 Preferred Trot.

PATRIARCH HANOVER REPLAY

Yonkers Raceway will take the weekend off and return on Monday, Jun. 14 at 7:15 p.m. EDT. That card will contain 12 dashes including another $42,000 Open and two $30,000+ overnight events.
