Hey Livvy (Donato Hanover) and harness racing driver Jordan Stratton were able to hold off a late charging race favorite Refined, in capturing the $33,000 Fillies and Mares Open Trot Thursday at Yonkers Raceway over a sloppy, rain-soaked track.
Hey Livvy and Stratton left from post six and got away in third place while Grey (Matt Kakaley) cut the mile to the first quarter in :28.3.
Stratton then came first-over with Hey Livvy and were parked out by Grey to the half mile in :58.4, cleared to the lead but stayed to the outside to avoid the sloppy track along the rail.
By the three-quarters in 1:27, Hey Livvy was up by three lengths on the field as Refined and driver Brent Holland swept three-wide from fourth place to mount a challenge.
At the top of the stretch, Hey Livvy seemed home free as she led by six lengths on the field, but Refined kept on coming down the stretch, Hey Livvy held on at the finish to win over Refined by a neck in 1:57.3. Kenziesky Hanover (Jason Bartlett) was third.
