Columbus, MN – The featured harness racing event on the Tuesday night (Sep. 3) program at Running Aces was the $15,500 Open Handicap pace which drew a very talented field of 8 competitors.
He’zzz A Wise Sky (Yankee Skyscraper, Dean Magee) was sent off as the 3-5 public choice despite the assigned 8 post while No Lou Zing (Todd Warren) was given a 3-1 chance as the clear second choice from post six.
No Lou Zing left fast to battle for the early lead with American Dreamer (Jacob Cutting) while PD The Big Easy (Mooney Svendsen), Juju Hanover (Elson Miller) and He’zzz A Wise Sky were all scrambling for forward positions through the fast :26.2 opening quarter.
No Luo Zing had the lead with PD The Big Easy parked in second and American Dreamer sitting third while they passed the half in :54.2.
Down the backside He’zzz A Wise Sky tipped three wide and was bearing down on the leader as they rounded past the three-quarter juncture in 1:22.2 while American Dreamer and Sneaky Hill (Brady Jenson) saved ground.
In the lane He’zzz A Wise Sky ($3.20) took control and surged to victory while No Lou Zing fought gamely to hold second. American Dreamer held third over a fast closing Alilthundadownunda (Nick Roland) in the 1:51.3 mile.

The winner is a 7-year-old stallion, owned by Triple Zzz Stable and trained by John Filomeno. He now shows 53 career wins and earnings of $773,619.
There were six Minnesota-sired freshman events on Tuesday night, 3 for trotters and 3 for pacers.
The freshman trotting events went to Peanutbutterfalcon (Jeff Hunt, $2.20) in 2:03, SHS Southern Pride (Rick Magee, $5.20) in 2:03 and Tamafilly (Svendsen, $33.20) in 2:04.2
The freshman pacing events went to Swinging On By (Dean Magee, $3.60) in 1:58, Skooch’s Valentine (Luke Plano, $11.20) in 1:57.4 and Mele Kalikimaka (Cutting, $4.00) in 1:58.3.

Drivers Dean Magee and Williams Hernandez each posted doubles on the card while Hernandez and Brett Ballinger posted training doubles.
