After a drop in class last week that resulted in a harness racing win (1:51.3), Hickfromfrenchlick (So Surreal) moved up to handle the best at Yonkers Raceway Monday in the $36,000 Open-Handicap Pace.

Starting from the rail for driver Jim Marohn, Jr., Hickfromfrenchlick (at odds of 8-1) scooted out to the early lead, but Great Somewhere (Brent Holland) in post two wanted to the cut the mile and came after the race leaders. They went head-to-head to the first quarter in :26 before Holland backed off and into the two-hole with Great Somewhere.
Off to the half mile, Hickfromfrenchlick led the way in :55 as Captivate Hanover (Daniel Dube) came first-over to challenge with Anothermastrpiece N (Jason Bartlett) second-over as they entered the backstretch.
By the three-quarters in 1:22.2, Hickfromfrenchlick held the field at bay and paced away from the field in the stretch to win with ease by three lengths in 1:51.1. Groovy Joe (Jordan Stratton) was second with Great Somewhere third.
HICKFROMFRENCHLICK REPLAY
It was the second straight win and fifth victory of the season for Hickfromfrenchlick. The seven-year-old stallion is trained by Ray Schnittker, who co-owns the horse with Nolamaura Racing and C. Spatorico. He paid $19.00 to win.
