Cream Ridge, NJ – 5/24/2024 – This evening, among the many generous gifts to help these horses, one last one arrived with much heart. Every former harness racing horse is safe and arrangements are being made to move them to good care for life!
The generosity and kindness in assisting the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, (SRF) to save these horses at risk changed their lives. It all rests on caring people, and how grateful these animals are to have such friends.
A few have arrived at facilities and are in adequate condition, they should be fine with some care. Southwind Stryker appears to be the one who has suffered the most. This winner of $192,000 is emaciated. SRF will be helping the organization that has taken him on. The facility where Giggity is receiving care expressed concern for the traumatic injury
to his ear, it appears to be recent. Two are still struggling with fever. The others will be evaluated when they arrive. The chestnut remains missing, however the pen is certain he did not ship. SRF anticipates that a few may never be offered a home and hopes for support to provide them with sanctuary care.
On June 1, 2024, it will be 35 years of helping these horses, and very little has changed to provide for the neediest. Help comes for them when special people step up as they have for this group. Every horse has a kind life ahead.
