Ocean City, MD – The second round of preliminaries for three-year-old Maryland sired harness racing horses went to post on Monday July 11th on a beautiful night at Ocean Downs.
First up were the sophomore colt and gelding trotters. Hoofbeats De Vie (Charlie De Vie) remains undefeated in two years of Maryland sire stakes going gate to wire in 2:01.1, Whitesville Mr Aw (Doggone Yankee) crossed second after making a miscue early in the race. Hoofbeats De Vie is owned and bred by Joie De Vie Stable LLC, trained by Chris Lakata and driven by Russell Foster.
Two splits for the three-year-old filly pacers went to post as races 3 and 5.
In the third Maleficent K (Rustyās For Real) with Mark Gray in the bike, pulled the upset over Lloyds Ladys (Rustyās All In) coming from the back of the pack to stop the clock in 1:58.4 winning by one-half length. Maleficent K is owned and bred by Charles Marsh Jr. and trained by Mark Gray.
The final stake of the night reinsman Jared Moyer pulled Connies All In (Rustyās All In) at the half to overtake the leader Grey Rocket (Camās Rocket) by the Ā¾ pole in the 1:57.3 mile. John Wagner trains for owner/breeder Pam Wagner.
