Howlenthehills and Huntingforchrome get NYSS wins

Driver Matt Kakaley and trainer Travis Alexander sweep both harness racing divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 3-year-old pacing colts & geldings at Tioga Downs on Sunday (August 18).

Howlenthehills (American Ideal) and driver Matt Kakaley is gate-to-wire winner in the $57,000 first division.

Howlenthehills ($2.10) was first to the quarter in :26.2.  He used a :29.0 second quarter to be first to the half in :55.2.  Vandiemen Bluechip (Braxten Boyd) made a move first-over going down the backstretch and challenged for the lead.  Howlenthehills led to three-quarters in 1:24.0.

As they made the turn for home Howlenthehills shook off second place finisher Vandiemen Bluechip and cruised home in 1:51.2.  Bruce’s VO N Coke (Jason Bartlett) finished third.

Howlenthehills is a gelding by American Ideal.  He is owned by Symmetry Stables and trained by Alexander.  He was winless as a freshman but has won 10 of his 11 starts as a sophomore.

HOWLENTHEHILLS REPLAY

Huntingforchrome (Huntsville) and driver Matt Kakaley cruised to victory in the $58,100 second division.

Huntingforchrome ($3.00) went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :26.4.  Spring Blake (Mark MacDonald) came first-up and was side by side with Huntingforchrome as they went around the clubhouse turn.  Huntingforchrome was first to the half in :55.3.  He stayed in control and led to three-quarters in 1:25.0.

Second place finisher Boston Rocks (Jason Bartlett) popped out of the two hole and came all out after the leader.  Huntingforchrome was too strong and won easily in 1:52.1.  Seen Here (Marcus Miller) finished third.

HUNTINGFORCHROME REPLAY

Huntingforchrome is a gelding by Huntsville.  He is owned by NY Seb Inc. and trained by Alexander.  It was his fourth win this season.  He now has eight career victories.

Tioga Downs leading driver Braxten Boyd had a Sunday to remember as he drove six winners on the card.  He got his wins with Exactly My Type, Jabbar, BB Lucky Boy, National Sport, Bluesville, and Park Street Blues.
