Prospectors Gold (Chris Long) captures the featured $7,500 pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (May 31).

Prospectors Gold ($2.30) blasted out of the gate and led to the quarter in :28.0. He used a :30.1 second quarter and was first to the half in :58.1. Twin B Kingston (Frank Affrunti) came first-up to heading around the final turn but could not get close to the harness racing leader. Prospectors Gold led to three-quarters in 1:26.0.
As they reached the stretch second place finisher War of Will (Leon Bailey) and third place finisher Mask On Mask Off (Jimmy Whittemore) came all out after the leader but Prospectors Gold was too strong and won in 1:54.2.
Prospectors Gold is a 6-year-old gelding by Huntsville. Owned and trained by Gary Levine. It was his fifth win this season. He now has 15 career victories.
