Bangor, Maine … Live harness racing will be conducted this afternoon, Wednesday (September 13), as originally scheduled with post time slated at 3:00 p.m. (EDT). But with Hurricane LeeĀ Ā bearing down on New England and the Maritimes this weekend, Bangor management has proactively moved up its planned Saturday card to Friday (September 15) with an early 11:00 a.m. post time.
āTaking into consideration the safety of the horses, backstretch workers, our patrons, and employees, we concluded the most prudent course of action was to move the card up to Fridayā said Bangor Race Secretary, Jean Thayer, āWeāre hopeful that our on-track and off-track fans will support this move by turning up and tuning in to wager on this special program ā.
Fridayās card will be the final September live harness racing performance at Bangor Raceway which will then remain open for simulcast wagering during its annual break in deference to Maineās fall fairground circuit. Live harness racing will resume on October 11th at Bangor Raceway with the fall meet featuring the $250,000 three-year-old Finals of the Maine Sire Stakes program, under the lights, on Saturday (October 14) with post time scheduled at 6:00 p.m.
