The husband-and-wife harness racing team of Michael (driver) and Hannah Miller (trainer) had a night to remember as they combined for three wins at Vernon Downs on Saturday (September 10).

Michael Miller drove American JJ (Jailhouse Jesse) to victory in the featured $6.600 trot with wild finish.

Askmelater Hanover (Claude Huckabone Jr.) went to the front and led to the first quarter in :27.2.  He used a :30.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.3.  Bet Big On Blue (Frank Affrunti) came first-up and challenged for the lead as they raced to the final turn.  Askmelater Hanover was first to three-quarters in 1:27.0.

As they reached the stretch American JJ popped the pocket and went in between Askmelater Hanover and Bet Big On Blue, as Just For Luck (Leon Bailey) went far inside, and Some Royalty (Barton Dalious) went far outside making it five across the track.  American JJ was not to be denied and won in 1:56.3.  Some Royalty finished second.  Bet Big On Blue was third.

AMERICAN JJ REPLAY

American JJ is a 9-year-old gelding.  He is owned by Lewis and Lisa Miller.  It was his second win this season and he paid $10.40 to win.  He now has 30 career victories.

The Millers showed hard work pays off.  They got their other wins with Hannah’s Match ($9.10), and If Not Why Not ($3.90).

Live racing returns to Vernon Downs on Friday (September 16).
