I Did It Myway (Captaintreacherous) surged late from the pocket and won the harness racing Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Thursday night. Island Of The Sea left aggressively early, parking out ATS Hanover, I Did It Myway and Maximus Miki entering the quarter pole.
Tim Tetrick and I Did It Myway grinded up to the lead passing the opening quarter in 26.4. Maximus Miki, the 1/9 betting favorite, had to work hard and finally cleared the lead passing the half in 54. (27.1) Maximus Hanover maintained a comfortable lead up the backstretch.
Mack moved 1st up followed by Layton Hanover who was 2nd over on the rim. Sport Secret circled three when the outside tear started to retreat approaching the three quarter pole.
Maximus Miki was a confident leader and continued his charge at the three quarters in 1:21.3 ( 27.3). I Did It Myway waited patiently along the pylons in the stretch and collared Maximus Miki on the wire. He won by a nose in 1:49.2 and paid $8.80 for the win.
Maximus Miki finished 2nd. Sport Secret finished 3rd. Tim Tetrick won six races on the sixteen race betting card. Nick Devita posted four training wins. His owners Hamm and Phillips recorded four owner wins.
