Ice Breakers K takes Monticello feature

Monticello, NY— Ice Breakers K (Winning Mister, Gregory Merton) won the $6,500 harness racing Open trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 17).

Ice Breakers K took the early lead, followed by E R Shane (Bruce Aldrich Jr) in second and Consus Victory (Kyle Dibenedetto) in third. As they approached the first quarter mile in :30.1, E R Shane stole the lead from the outside. As they came by the stands for the first time, E R Shane had the lead by a length over Ice Breakers K. They passed the half mile in 1:00.4.

At the three-quarter mile in 1:30.3, E R Shane still led the way, with Ice Breakers K closing in. Consus Victory followed in third. As they came down the stretch, Ice Breakers K rushed past E R Shane from the inside, stealing the victory in 2:01.

E R Shane got second by a head, and Consus Victory finished in third.

ICE BREAKERS K REPLAY

Ice Breakers K is a 5-year-old gelding owned by Room4040 LLC Stables and trained by Peter Pellegrino. He paid $6.20 to win.

Bruce Aldrich Jr and Gregory Merton got driving doubles.
