Dayton, Ohio – Ohio’s 28-degree weather may be cold, but harness racing driver Jeremy Smith was red hot, winning half of the 14-race card on Thursday (Nov. 17) at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.
Smith scored in races 1, 3, 7, 9, 11,12, and 14.
The 42-year-old’s most impressive win of the evening came aboard 32-1 longshot Heerz Howie Roll in race nine.
The gelded son by Racing Hill left conservatively off the gate. Gapping to sixth at the half mile marker, Smith and Heerz Howie Roll were seemingly buried. Despite sitting eighth at the top of the stretch, Smith shot down the Lightning Lane and crossed the finish line first in 1:55.4. Trained by Robert Brooks, Heerz Howie Roll paid a whopping $66.40 to win.
Smith’s seven wins were:
- Gone Girl, an 8-year-old mare by Dragon Again, trained by Mark Gillenwater, stopped the clock in 1:55 and paid $3.80.
- Matter Of Focus, 5-year-old gelding by Explosive Matter, trained by Mike Medors, won in 1:57.4 and returned $16.40.
- Stateline Action, 3-year-old gelding by Luck Be Withyou, Chris McGuire trains, 1:53.4, $11.00.
- Heerz Howie Roll, 3-year-old gelding by Racing Hill, Robert Brooks, 1:55.4, $66.40.
- Td’s Legacy, 5-year-old The Ponderosa gelding, Roy Murphy Jr, 1:53.4, $16.60.
- Call Him Rocky, 5-year-old gelded son by World Of Rocknroll, Trent Tharps Jr, 1:53.1, $4.00.
- Champion Rock, 7-year-old Pet Rock gelding, Ryan Bellamy, 1:53.2, $2.20.
Boasting a .313 UDRS, Smith is the leading dash winningest driver at Dayton Raceway with 75 victories so far this season. Just last month, Smith surpassed 3000 career victories and has now earned $2,524,568 in 2022.
