Lebanon, OH — After a two-day hiatus caused by winter weather, Miami Valley Raceway returned to action Tuesday (Jan. 27) with a full 14-race card. In the featured $22,000 conditioned trot, Jet Wings was able to hold off Massive Desire and score his first win of the year.

Leaving from post 7 with regular pilot Trace Tetrick, Jet Wings quickly cleared and led the field past the opening quarter in :28.1. The field stayed single file until just before the half as last week’s winner, favorite Massive Desire, pulled first-over from third and challenged for the lead. As they passed the half in :57.3 and turned into the wind, Massive Desire was able to slowly reel in Jet Wings to get within a length as they tripped the three-quarters in 1:26.4. As the field turned for home, Jet Wings turned away Massive Desire and won by a length with the latter settling for second. Hilltop Sonar overcame traffic trouble and charged hard to finish third.

The win for Jet Wings was his first since graduating from the Ohio Sires Stakes, where the now 4-year-old son of What The Hill had finished a respectable third in the final last September. It also gave leading trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. his 18th of the meet.

Brett Miller led all drivers with three wins on the card, with Chris Page, Trace Tetrick and Tyler Smith ending the night with doubles. Trainer Steve Carter also had a double.

Live racing at Miami Valley continues Wednesday (Jan. 28), beginning at the usual 4 p.m. (EST) first post.
