Svanstedt Stable announced on X today that two-time Breeders Crown harness racing champion and Dan Patch Award winner Jiggy Jog S (Walner) has been retired due to injury.
In the statement, the stable said she was found to have an injury to her sesamoid after her win in the Dayton Distaff Derby on Sep. 28. It said the horse is not in pain and will be fine.
“She has given us so much joy and excitement for the past four years,” the statement said. “Every time she went behind the gate, it was a pleasure to watch her amazing technique and the fighting instinct to win. She gave it 110% every time.”
Jiggy Jog S was six-for-six this season, including her victory in the $1 million MGM Yonkers International Trot. The Swedish-bred mare earned more than $3.5 million in her career and won 24 of 41 starts. She took a mark of 1:49.2 earlier this year. Ake Svanstedt trained the mare throughout her career. She is owned by Svanstedt, Steve Stewart, John Lengacher, and Hickory Hollow Stables.
In the statement, Svanstedt Stable thanked her caretaker Rene Lopez and driver Dexter Dunn.
