Leaving from post one in the claiming pace for $11,500, Bailey positioned Jimble Kimble on the lead before relinquishing his position for the 6-5 favorite, Heavensway A (Wally Hennessey). Just after the :27.1 quarter, Jimble Kimble swept around the bettors’ choice to regain command of the field and he never looked back as he controlled the half in :57.1 and three quarters in 1:25.2. Brushing off the pressure of his foes behind him, Jimble Kimble opened up to win by 3-3/4 lengths in a new lifetime mark of 1:54.1. Palomar (Brett Beckwith) finished second and Captainofrocknroll (Jim Devaux) was third.
