Johnson tops amateurs at Northfield

Northfield, Ohio–Go Go George, with amateur harness racing driver Christina Johnson at the controls, copped the GLADA trot tonight (Jul. 2) at Northfield Park turning back seven others en route to a 1:57.2 victory, the trotter’s first of the season.

After starting from the five hole Ms. Johnson hustled her trotter to the lead and they had command at the quarter in :28.4. She then let Steve Oldford take charge with Sumbodygetdisfool and he showed the way to the half in :59. But up the backside Larry Ferrari sent So Wishful for the lead which they gained at the three quarters in 1:28.4.

But they had to contend with Go Go George who was rallying on the outside and when they turned for home he was the strong horse and Ms Jonson hustled him to a 2-1/2 length victory over So Wishful. Fulton’s Fury gained the show dough for Darrell Rideout.
