Four horses win in 1:50 or faster

DOVER, Del. — It was more like a Spring Day with late misty drizzle at Dover Downs where four horses won 1:50 or faster. Ironically, the top purse $27,500 Delaware Special was not one of them. Just A Jolt registered his 10th win the year needing only a 1:51 performance with harness racing driver Vic Kirby holding the reins. Yannick Gingras had a big day with five winning drives.

Just A Jolt won his second Del. Special in-a-row upping his seasonal bankroll to $167,930 for owner Janet Hudson. The five-year-old altered son of Village Jolt-Just Wait Kate trained by Jim King left from outside post 7 in the feature and finally took the lead after the half then cruised to victory. The only contest was for second where Don't Ya Know edged Captive Audience (Corey Callahan) for second.

Rocknroll Jewel led off the fast day with a 1:49.1 triumph, the fastest win of George Dennis' career, in the 1st race a $20,000-$25,000 Male Claiming Handicap. Dylan Davis conditions the Rocknroll Hanover-Michelle's Jewel eight-year-old gelding for owner Tom Lazarro. Raritan Bay (Allan Davis) closed strongly for second in front of Giant Sculpture (Yannick Gingras).

Gingras' later guided Lou Frascella's Phil Your Boots home, also in 1:49.1 to win a $20,000 Male Winners-Over pace. It was the Shanghai Phil-Tassagh gelding's 14th success of the season and fourth win in his last five starts for trainer Andy Harris. Snap To It A (Brett Miller) was runner-up. Mister Truth (Ross Wolfenden) was third best.

The next fastest clocking came when Gingras driving Ken Wood, Bill Ditmar and Steve Iaquinta's Adventure Bound to a 1:50 victory in a $12000 Male pace. Eridanus N (Wolfenden) was second in front of Papa Ray (Alan Davis).

Earlier Gingras struck again steering Journeyman to a 1:50.1 conquest in an $18,000 Open for young horses. Ron Burke trains the American Ideal-Cosmic Journey four-year-old owned by Weaver Bruscemi, Collura and Burke Racing. Roland N Rock (Morgan) closed for second with Bad Boy Matt (A. Davis) third.

Bill Emmons' Good Luck, a Four Starzzz Shark-Ms Mirabelle four-0year-old, was Gingras' fifth win of the day, a 1:51.4 score over Atta Boy Bones (Art Stafford Jr.) and I Belong With You (Callahan) in a $15,500 3,4&5-Year0Old pace.

Pinearosa, a The Panderosa-Pinehaven Amber homebred of Gloria Myers and Carter Racing Stable, trained by Bobby Myers with Ton Morgan driving, chalked up a 1:51.4 win in another $15,500 even for young male horses. Twin B Stingray (Kirby) was the place finisher. Rip N Rock (B.Miller) collected third.

Along with Gingras' five bagger, George Dennis and the Brittingham family, owner Elizabeth, trainer Don and driver Brett Brittingham, had two wins on the program.

Shine N Shimmer seeks her second straight facing eight rivals in the $21,000 Mares Open Handicap, the Tuesday feature race.

The traditional Christmas Holiday Break Week at Dover Downs features no live racing Dec.19 through Dec. 27. Racing will resume on Monday, Dec. 28 at 4:30 p.m. Again this season, there is no live racing on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31. Racing will resume on Sunday, Jan. 3 with post time at 5:30 p.m. on Sundays in January and February 2016. Weekday post time is 4:30 p.m.

$21,000, TWO $15,000 DISTAFFS, ELLIES JET N SEEKS 7TH STRAIGHT  

Shine N Shimmer, last week’s distaff winner, and veteran Paradise Lost, steps up after a victory, lead the $21,000 Mares Open Handicap pace, the Tuesday, Nov. 15 feature race at Dover Downs. Post time is 4:30 p.m. Invader Ellies Jet N puts six straight North America win streak on the line.  Post time 4:30 p.m.

Howard Taylor’s Shine N Shimmer trained by  Doug Lewis with Corey Callahan driving, trainee has won of her last six starts including a near-miss second is program favorite in the nine female field. Fashion Showdown with Ross Wolfenden, finished second, a head back last week. Bob Bailey’s sharp Duneside Chella, driven by Marcus Miller, was a close third. . Bay Pond Racing’s Hearts N Flowers with Allan Davis has won two of last three races.

Bob Winkleman’s hard hitting Paradise Lost raced most of his win a week ago on the outside before getting up for the win. Jim Morand will drive this time. Mike Casalino’s Double Joy, a second-place finisher in her last three starts will be driven by Allan Davis from post 2. CC Racing’s Tyra, with Vic Kirby, leaves from post 9 in the second tier. The other contenders are Randall Bendis and Tom Pollock’s Montenegra, piloted by Brett Miller, Handsoffmycookie, a $1.3-million winner has the rail with Tony Morgan driving.

There are pair of $15,000 3,4&5-Year-Old Fillies and Mares paces on the 15-race card. In one, Ellies Jet N (Art Stafford Jr.), unbeaten in her six races since arriving from New Zealand for owners Evans, Spedden, Parker and Nanticoke Racing, and stakes seasoned Girlofyourdreams (Montrell Teague), is fresh from a win last week. These two starters have drawn inside posts. Plyncardswitroddy (G.Dennis) notched a win last week for George & Tina Dennis and Ask W Stable.

Lady Beth (Wolfenden) won her second straight last Wednesday for owners Lorie and trainer Paul Davis.

In the other $15,000 division, Nick Surick and Engel sables’ Luvniecestopieces (M.Miller), the only filly in the field, makes her first December start while  Don Reed, Jim Tessmer and trainer George Wagner (Ty Davis). Stakes seasoned Girlofyourdreams (Montrell Teague), owned by The Wiz Kids Stable, Ava Destruction (B.Miller) racing for Melissa Cabot and Dennis Olsen and the sharp Sweet Bobbie (Callahan) leaves from post 8 for owner-trainer Gary Ewing, lead the eight-horse field.
