Monticello, NY— Just Call Me Art (Tellitlikeitis) claimed the harness racing victory over favorite Dunes Beach in the $5,100 featured pace for six-year-olds and under on Thursday (Aug. 24) at Monticello Raceway.
In the final daily double of the day, Barley A Sin was quick to leave the gate. Bruce Aldrich Jr rushed Dunes Beach up to challenge and take the lead. On the inside, Lizziana was racing third. They went by the quarter in :29 with Bruce Aldrich Jr keeping post time favorite Dunes Beach in the lead by a length over pocket trip Barley A Sin.
As they came by the stands for the first time, Dunes Beach still had a length over Barley A Sin. Three lengths back, Lizziana was pacing in third. Just Call Me Art began to hustle up first-over before the half mile :58:1.
From the outside, Fern Paquet Jr and Just Call Me Art were gaining ground, seizing third as they swung around the final turn.
At the top of the stretch, Dunes Beach was joined from the outside by Just Call Me Art, who passed Dunes Beach to take the lead and grab the victory in 1:57. Dunes Beach finished second, Barley A Sin came in third, and Lizziana crossed the wire fourth.
