WASHINGTON, PA, Oct. 19, 2023 — Away fifth in the harness racing field of six, Kat (He’s Watching-Atlantic Seelster) steadily advanced on the leader, 1-2 favorite Blue Ivy, and kicked by her in the Lightning Lane to capture Thursday’s $19,200 Filly & Mare Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Once Dave Palone cleared every horse but Blue Ivy, he was able to knife back to the cones. That was a key ground-saving move, as the 6-year-old mare was able to edge Blue Ivy by only a nose. Lydeo finished third.
KAT REPLAY
Ron Burke trains Kat, who now boasts career earnings of $291,139, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. It was one of five wins on the 13-race card for Palone, including a pair for Burke.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday, first post 12:45 PM.
