Monticello, NY— After an impressive first career victory in the $108,200 leg of the New York Sire Stakes at Vernon Downs last week, Keep Asking (Chapter Seven) stole the show again in the $104,400 New York Sire Stake at Monticello Raceway on Monday (Aug. 28).
Driver Mark MacDonald and Titan Your Grip went for the early lead out of the gate with It Wasn’t Me on the inside second. Keep Asking was on the far outside trotting in third. It Wasn’t Me went off stride midway around the first turn, giving Keep Asking the two hole. Titan Your Grip was leading the way by five and one-half lengths ahead of Keep Asking by the first quarter in :28.4.
Jordan Stratton had the 2-5 favorite Keep Asking in the pocket behind Titan Your Grip as they passed the half mile in 1:00:2.
Heading into the backstretch, Jordan Stratton popped Keep Asking out of the two hole to take command from the outside at the three-quarters in 1:29:4.
As they made their way around the final turn, Keep Asking was still in the lead over Titan Your Grip. Jordan Stratton let Keep Asking have his head and he trotted away from the rest of the field to stroll home by three and one-quarter lengths in 1:59. Super Duper Cooper (Jason Bartlett) followed in second and Titan Your Grip finishing third.
