Keg Stand (Bar Hopping) made amends for an earlier harness racing defeat and won convincingly in the $25,000 Open Trot at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday night.
Last Glow and Chapheart battled early, trotting into the first turn. Last Glow settled in the pocket then re- took the lead away from a stubborn Chapheart past the opening quarter was 27.3. Last Glow led the field of trotters to the half in 57, a rated 29.2 quarter. Keg Stand became anxious sitting fourth and unleashed a brush past the half clearing the lead easily down the backstretch.
Platinum As maneuvered 1st over and Rivers chased 2nd over on the rim. But those bids stalled. Keg Stand, the 3/5 betting favorite, was in full flight passing the three quarters in 1:25, a 28 flat clocking. Keg Stand drew off in the stretch to win by five lengths in 1:54 and paid $3.40 for the win.
Chapheart finished 2nd and Last Glow picked up the show spot.
