Kentukylady goes gate to wire in Open Pace

Kentukylady (Big Bad John, Kayne Kauffman) won the $34,000 Fillies and Mares Open harness racing pace at Miami Valley Raceway on Sunday (Mar. 10).

Kentukylady took the early lead, followed by Marloe Hanover (Sam Widger) in second and Lee Loo (Brett Miller) in third. They were in this position as they passed the first quarter mile in :27.2 and half mile in :56.1.

As they made their way down the backstretch, Kentukylady was not giving up her lead. Marloe Hanover popped out of the pocket to challenge the leader before they reached the three-quarter mile in 1:24.4.

Kentukylady got the victory in 1:53 by three-quarters of a length. Ainthesamewithoutu (Tony Hall) finished in second and Marloe Hanover got third.

Kentukylady is a 5-year-old mare trained by Michael Arnold for owners Russell and Robert Hundley. She paid $15.00 to win.
