Harrah’s Hoosier Park held one of its richest stakes nights of the year Friday (Nov. 4) with more than $600,000 in purses and King Of The North (Walner) showed he was hungry for his share.
Competing in the 9th race $200,000 The Carl Erskine Trot for three-year-old colts, King Of The North and driver Mark MacDonald got away second behind the 114-1 longshot Delgado (Sam Widger) to the first quarter in a speedy :26.2.
MacDonald wasted no time in sending King Of The North to the front and they led the field past the half mile in :54.3. Coming to the three-quarters, Longshot (Chris Lems) came first-over to no avail.
The three-quarters was reached in 1:23.1 and as they started down the stretch, King Of The North held the field at bay, winning with ease by three lengths in 1:52.2. Delgado was second with Dover In Motion (Ricky Macomber) third.

Meanwhile, Bythemissal and driver Chris Page got away mid pack on the outside and began marching first-up and was stung by Birthday to the half mile in :54.2 before being able to clear.
To the three-quarters, RIP Wheeler came back first-over and pressed the lead in 1:21.3. Coming down the stretch Bymissal was game despite having Ponda Warrior (Mark MacDonald) now on the outside and Birthday coming up the rail and was able to pull away just at the finish to win by a half a length in 1:49.3.
