King Of The North (Walner) headlines one of the biggest nights of racing Friday (Nov. 4) at Harrah’s Hoosier Park where more than $600,000 in purses will be on the line.
Fresh off winning both his elimination and $591,300 Breeders Crown Final last week, King Of The North starts from post four for driver Mark MacDonald in the 9th race, which is the $200,000 Carl Erskine Trot for three-year-old colts and geldings.
In the Breeders Crown final, King Of The North, just as he did in his elimination race, led from start to finish in a lifetime record mile of 1:50.3. The mile rewrote the stakes and Canadian record.
Winner of the 2021 Dan Patch Award as the nation’s top two-year-old, King Of The North has come into form at the right time to be considered for top honors once again with a win in the Carl Erskine. He is trained by Ray Schnittker for Schnittker Ward, Arden Homested Stable, Nolamaura Racing and Steve Arnold.
Other contenders in the race include Ponda Adventure (post 3), who enters the race with two straight wins and Longshot (post 9) who is on a three-race winning streak.
The $200,000 co-feature in the 11th race is the Monument Circle Pace for three-year-old colts and geldings.
Bythemissal (Downbytheseaside), winner of the Little Brown Jug in straight heats, enters the race as the early favorite. Last week he was third in his $665,213 Breeders Crown final at Mohawk Park.
With Chris Page in the sulky for trainer Ron Burke, Bythemissal starts from post nine and comes into the race with an impressive record of 12 wins in just 15 starts. His third place finish in the Breeders Crown made him a $1 million career winner.
The lone return winner in the field is Yourwishisgranted (post 7), who will be driven by Michael Oosting. He has been sharp as of late, taking a lifetime mark at Hoosier Park last week in 1:49.4.
The 5th race feature is the $100,000 The USS Indianapolis Memorial Pace for three-year-old fillies.
The headliner is none other than Ohio’s top filly, Sea Silk (Downbytheseaside), who goes from the rail for driver Chris Page and trainer Ron Burke.
Sea Silk did not fare well in the Breeders Crown, nor at Lexington’s Red Mile, and she was second by a neck in the Jugette Final, so it can be assured she will be trying to return to her winning ways Friday evening.
Return winner Patsville (post 7) with driver John De Long go for their third straight win at Hoosier Park, the fastest a 1:50.3 clocking. Bet On Loretta (post 5) also enters off a lifetime record of 1:52.2 taken just last week at Northfield Park’s half mile oval.
The 7th race is the $110,000 Crossroads Of America Trot for three-year-old fillies has a full field of ten starters headlined by race favorite M-M’s Dream (Swan For All) from post seven for driver David Miller.
M-M’s Dream has been having a dream season for trainer Henry Graber, Jr and owners Eleven Star Stables, Frank Baldachino and the Hillside Stables. She has won an amazing 11 times in just 12 starts.
Racing mainly at Hoosier Park, M-M’s Dream took her lifetime mark two starts back with a 1:52.4 mile.
Bluebird Dove (post 2) comes into the race for driver Peter Wrenn off two-straight wins and she has eight wins on the season, the fastest a 1:52.2 triumph at Delaware.
Two other return winners in the field are Cash Influsion (post 1) in 1:51.4 at Hoosier Park and Disclosure (post 9), a 1:55.3 score at Hollywood Dayton Raceway.
