Plainville, MA — A pair of harness racing paces topped the bill at Plainridge Park on Monday afternoon (June 17) and the winners ran the gamut of mutuals.
In the $15,000 District 9 pace, King Spencer (Sweet Lou) and driver Drew Campbell got away sixth to the front running Odds On Lauderdale (Brett Beckwith) but moved second-over behind Cigars And Port (Wally Watson) from the half to three-quarters.
At the top of the last turn, Campbell tipped King Spencer three-deep into the stretch, took the lead and then held off the fast-closing Miki U So Fine (Jimmy Hardy) and Manferno (Matty Athearn) to win by one-quarter length in 1:53.3 at 39-1.

Then in the $14,000 mid-level conditioned event, Slip The Hundy N (Lincoln Royal, Matty Athearn) watched as Anvil Hands (Jimmy Hardy) took the early lead, but then moved at the quarter to gain the front as they passed in front of the stands.
Once in control, Slip The Hundy N got to the half in :57.3 and three-quarters in 1:25 as Anvil Hands continued to stalk from the garden spot. When they turned for home, Anvil Hands moved to the outside and tried to gain ground but Slip The Hundy N held him at bay to the wire and won by one length in 1:53.1.

Brett Beckwith led all drivers with four wins on Monday while Mark Beckwith was the top trainer with two tallies during the afternoon.
Racing resumes at Plainridge Park on Tuesday (June 18) with post time at 4 p.m. and the card will feature a $1,204 carryover in the Wicked Hi-5 in race six.
