Monticello, NY— The 4-5 favorite Kj Leo (Art Major, Jim Taggart Jr) won the $4,900 harness racing pace at Monticello Raceway on Thursday afternoon (Nov. 2).
Kj Leo took the early lead alongside Makasi (Bruce Aldrich Jr). From the outside, Jojo Blue Chip (Gregory Merton) moved to the front to challenge the leader. As they arrived at the first quarter mile in :30, Kj Leo had the lead, followed by Jojo Blue Chip in second and Teeter (James Scarpias) in third.
Kj Leo had the lead by a length, with Jojo Blue Chip in the pocket spot in second. Makasi was racing in third as they passed the half mile in :58.3 and three-quarter mile in 1:27.3.
At the top of the stretch, Kj Leo and Jojo Blue Chip were in a battle for the lead, but Kj Leo crossed the wire first in 1:56.4. Jojo Blue Chip finished a head behind in second and Makasi came in third.

Kj Leo is a 7-year-old gelding trained by Gary Messenger for owners Brenda Messenger and Scott Woogen. He paid $3.80 to win.
