Lady Jericho steals Monticello pace by a nose

Monticello, NY— Lady Jericho (Dude’s The Man, Michael Merton) won the $5,400 harness racing pace at Monticello Raceway on Monday afternoon (Feb. 5).

Proudamericangirl (Kyle Dibenedetto) took the early lead, followed by Come Zoom With Me (Bruce Aldrich Jr). Shes A Sassy Beach (Mcgwire Sowers) was racing in third as they came to the opening quarter mile in :28.4. Proudamericangirl led the way by a length over Come Zoom With Me. As they passed the half mile in :59.3, Hurrikanemyshannon (Fern Paquet Jr) rushed to challenge the leader from the outside.

They got to the three-quarter mile marker in 1:28.4 with Proudamericangirl still in front, Hurrikanemyshannon following in second, and Infinity Seelster (Jim Taggart Jr) first-over and looking to battle for second from the outside. As they turned for home, Lady Jericho rushed up from the far outside to slip past Proudamericangirl and steal the victory in 1:58.1.

Infinity Seelster came in third.

Lady Jericho is a 4-year-old mare owned by Jennifer Safford and trained by Daniel Gill. She paid $17.80 to win.

Jim Taggart Jr and Fern Paquet Jr had driving doubles. Daniel Gill had a training triple.
