Monticello, NY— The 4-5 favorite Lady Jericho (Dude’s The Man, Michael Merton) won the $6,500 Open Fillies and Mares harness racing pace at Monticello Raceway on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 20).
Pretty Gorgeous (Mcgwire Sowers) established an early lead, followed by Meadowbrook Krista (Jim Taggart Jr) in second and Lady Jericho in third. They passed the first quarter mile in :28.4.
Pretty Gorgeous was on top by a length. From the outside, Lady Jericho moved to challenge for the lead as they went past the half mile mark in :58.4. Lady Jericho stole the lead, leaving Pretty Gorgeous in second and pocket trip Meadowbrook Krista in third. Meadowbrook Krista moved into the two hole as they approached the three-quarter mile in 1:27.2.
Swinging around the final turn, Lady Jericho led the way, followed by Meadowbrook Krista, who was closing in. Lady Jericho beat out Meadowbrook Krista in 1:57. Lady Chrislyn (Gregory Merton) came in third.

Lady Jericho is a 4-year-old mare owned by Jennifer Safford and trained by Daniel Gill. She paid $3.70 to win.
Bruce Aldrich Jr, Fern Paquet Jr, and Gregory Merton got driving doubles. Michael Merton got a driving grand slam. Laura Aldrich got a training double. Daniel Gill got a training triple.
