HARRINGTON, DE – The last 6 races of the 15-dash harness racing card at Harrington Raceway Tuesday, July 5, were canceled due to unsafe conditions after heavy downpours in the region.
Edwin Gannon’s Sprocket (Sportswriter) and driver Pat Berry recorded his 5th win of the season off a pocket trip in 1:53.3 over the sloppy racetrack Monday in the $20,000 Open Pace held earlier on the card.
The 7-year-old gelding received a pocket trip behind pacesetter Movin On Up, who made the lead early from post position eight.
Sprocket gained the lead near the top of the stretch and held off Movin On Up and She’s Pukka N to the wire. Movin On Up held second while She’s Pukka N, one of 3 mares in the race, finished third.
Sprocket is trained by Traci Berry and has had a career year with nearly $100,000 earned this season and a dazzling 1:48.2 mark set at Bally’s Dover. He paid $7.40 to win.
SPROCKET REPLAY
Berry had 3 wins on the card while Mike Cole had a double.
Live racing will resume Wednesday with a 15-race card. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
