Tomas (Art Major) with harness racing driver Artie Dick flew late in the stretch to capture the $8,500 Open Pace on Saturday (August 26) at Vernon Downs.

Chateroll (Frank Affrunti) led to the quarter in :27.4. He used a:28.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.1. The gelding was well in control and was first to three-quarters in 1:23.1.
Tomas found himself fifth ($3.00) after three-quarters and began to make his move. Primo Uomo (John MacDonad) popped the pocket and battled Chateroll for the lead. Tomas looked like he was shot out of a cannon as he went on by like the others were standing still and won in a lifetime best of 1:50.1. Primo Uomo was second. Chateroll had to settle for third.
Tomas is a 6-year-old gelding owned by White Yeti Racing while trained by Dick. It was his fifth win of the season and his 10th career victory.
