Lexington Selected Sales Co. has announced that its mixed sale has returned for 2022 and will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Fasig-Tipton Newtown Paddocks.

The sale follows the company’s annual Selected Yearling Sale, which wraps up Friday night, and comes on the eve of the Red Mile’s 130th Kentucky Futurity.

Entries of racehorses, race fillies and breeding stock are now being accepted. Consignors may enter by calling the company’s Lexington (859-255-8431) or New York (914-773-7777) offices.

“The mixed sale is a logical extension of the yearling market, and all the domestic and international buyers in town always makes it an exciting venue and a great time to sell,” said co-manager David Reid. “It further enhances what’s come to be called ‘The Lexington Experience.’”

Reid also mentioned that owners and trainers shouldn’t overlook the fact that selling quality racehorses and race fillies in Lexington creates what he called “instant capital” to help cover the expense of yearlings that were purchased just days before.

The company’s last mixed sale, held in 2020 during the uncertain times of the Covid-19 pandemic, posted a racehorse average of more than $57,000 and was led by the 3-year-old race filly and broodmare prospect Creature Of Habit at $350,000.

Co-manager Randy Manges agreed the sale’s a natural fit. He noted the entire Fasig-Tipton facility and auction crew is already in place to accommodate an extra date, and that it’s an easy “ship in and sell” for consignors.
