With a perfect two-hole trip from harness racing driver Jason Bartlett, Credit Con (Credit Winner) just got up at the wire to score an upset win and a lifetime mark in the $30,000 feature trot Thursday (Feb. 23) at Yonkers Raceway.
The second race feature saw Credit Con and Bartlett scoot out to the early lead and then gave way by the opening quarter in :27.3 to race favorite Hey Livvy and driver Jordan Stratton.
Hey Livvy led the five-horse field past the half in :55.4 and the three-quarters in 1:24 with no one pulling on the right line.
As they started down the stretch, Barlett pulled the pocket with Credit Con and came after the race leader, nailing them at the wire to win by a neck in 1:54.4. Lean Hanover (Matt Kakaley) was third.
CREDIT CON REPLAY
It was a lifetime mark for the five-year-old gelding and his first win in five starts this year. Credit Con is trained by Jenn Bongiorno for owner Ben Mondello of NY. Sent off at odds of 5-1, Credit Con paid $13.40 to win.
