Live stakes races and more at Meadows on Derby Day

WASHINGTON, PA, May 3, 2023 — World-class harness racing. Food and beverage specials. Contests and more. That’s the exciting line-up of family-centric activities set for Saturday, May 6, Kentucky Derby Day at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. Coordinated by The Meadows and the Meadows Standardbred Racing Association (MSOA), the celebration offers fun for everyone.

The festivities kick off with live harness racing beginning at the special post time of 11:30 AM. The 14-race program launches the 2023 stakes season at The Meadows and features a pair of events for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers — a PA Sires Stake and a PA Stallion Series event. In those stakes, top talent will compete for more than $245,000 in total purses.

Other highlights include:

• The annual Derby Hat Contest offering $1,000 in cash prizes. Registration begins at 1 PM outside Embers Lounge;

• The casino’s Wood Fire Pizza Food Truck will be open on the apron;

• A BBQ package on the Barstool Patio specially priced at $45. Call 877.824.5050 for reservations;

• Mint juleps and Elijah Craig Bourbon tastings at the outdoor Embers Lounge;

• Paddock tours, starting gate rides and winners’ circle pictures, all sponsored by MSOA.
