Ft. Washington, MD — Dawn Amiss’ Fantastic Voyage (Cool Flying Fun) sat a perfect pocket trip and surged by the pacesetting Sea Of Life to claim the $15,500 Open I harness racing feature Thursday (Jan. 26) at Rosecroft Raceway in 1:52.2.
It was one of two wins on the night for driver Jared Moyer who scored a 17-1 score for trainer Shaun Callahan. He paid $36.60 to win.
While the sport has help wanted ads all over the mid-atlantic for barn help, a super success story is 20-year-old trainer Amanda Blackford.
Working at Northern Creek Farm in Maryland for Gary and Tammy Crescenze, Blackford picked up her first career training win on Thursday with John Mac. Russell Foster guided him to a wire-to-wire score in 1:54.2 after a sizzling opening quarter of :26.3.
“I’m always nervous in that opening quarter, but he just loves being on the front,” Blackford said.
FANTASTIC VOYAGE REPLAY
Foster won three times on the card while Jonathan Ahle and Roger Plante each won twice. Trainer Eric Foster won two races for owner Eric Foster Jr.
