Northfield, OH – There were fireworks on Tuesday (March 21) at MGM Northfield Park as many of the post-time favorites on the harness racing program struggled to win, creating some monster payoffs throughout the program.
The madness began in the opening leg of the Early Pick-4, as the Renae Loney trainee Snow Burn (Racing Hill) and driver Aaron Merriman closed from off the pace to upend favorite Checkin In (Lube Ebersole) in the shadow of the wire. While Snow Burn ($59.00) was the only massive upset in the sequence, Print Media ($6.60), Dunkin’ ($7.80), and Leonardo Hanover ($15.80) all managed to score against favorites in their respective legs of the sequence with the Pick-4 paying $14,965 to one lucky patron.

The 50-cent non-jackpot Pick-6 featured a single ticket winner, with no one in the sequence paying more than $11.40 to win. The wager, which has gained some traction recently when it sports a carryover, paid a whopping $5,473.50.
Dragon Purplechips (Dragon Again) and driver Keith Kash Jr. continued his recent success in the late Super High-5, saving ground through most of the mile to win going away in 1:54.1. The massive $8,450.78 payoff (3 tickets) ensued as favorite Ilusionist Hanover (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) was disqualified for not losing ground while on a break. It was the fifth win of the year for the Ohio-bred son of Dragon Again, who has now earned $134,921.
