Lying in Cash (Aracache Hanover-Jokerslitlwhitelie) and harness racing driver Jason Merriman returned to the Northville Downs winner’s circle after capturing the Saturday (April 15) night $10,800 featured Open-Handicap Pace at Northville Downs.
Lying In Cash grabbed the first call off the car but then race favorite Magic Shark and driver Kody Massey took back over going to the half. Opening fractions of :27.4 and :57 to the half mile pole set the tone as challenger Oh K Man exchanged blows with Magic Shark passed the half and the three-quarters in 1:25.3.
The battle continued into the stretch when Merriman guided Lying in Cash up the lightning lane from the pocket to win by a widening length and a quarter margin in 1:54.2.
Magic Shark settled for second as Dusto and driver Drew Neill got up for the show dough.
It was the 29th career victory for the seven-year-old gelding who is bred, owned and trained by Techia Lohmann. He paid $5.00 to win.
