With a late scratch of Techys Angel A and the field reduced to just five starters, Majorca N (Art Major) and harness racing driver Jordan Stratton took full advantage in capturing the $39,000 Mares Open Pace at Yonkers Raceway Thursday (June 9).
The 8th race feature got started with Stratton leaving with Majorca N and getting to the lead by the opening quarter mile in :27.1 with Dragon Roll (Tyler Buter) grabbing the two-hole spot.
They raced to the half mile in :56.4 with no movement but that changed by the backstretch as Best Head West and driver Jason Bartlett came first-over followed by race favorite Drama Act (George Brennan), who went three-wide by the three-quarters in 1:25.2.
By the top of the stretch Majorca N was still in command by two lengths and held the lead through the wire to win by one and one-half lengths in 1:53.1. Best Head West was second with Dragon Roll third.
MAJORCA N REPLAY
The seven-year-old mare notched her second straight win and sixth of the year in just nine starts for trainer Dylan Davis, who co-owns Majorca N with Michael Casalino, Jr. She paid $5.50 to win.
