Majorca N (Art Major) returned to her harness racing winning form and won the $25,000 Mares Open Pace at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday night (Feb. 1).
Majorca N and driver Corey Callahan outpaced Shes Pukka N from the start and surged to the front reaching the quarter in :27.4. The 4/5 betting favorite, Majorca N, continued unchallenged on the lead and reached the half in :56.3, a :28.4 quarter.
The pacing mares started to pair up down the backstretch. Incaseyoudidntknow moved off the rail from 3rd and sprinted first over. Feeling Sweet captured the second over trip. Divine Deo followed the outside flow from a third over position.
Incaseyoudidntknow challenged Majorica N as they raced side by side to the three quarters in 1:24.3. They paced a :28 flat quarter. Incaseyoudidntknow could not sustain that bid and Feeling Sweet circled three-wide in full attack mode entering the stretch.
However, Majorca N was too powerful and went on to win by a measured length in 1:52.2. She paid $3.60 for the win.
