Columbus, Ohio – Makin Some Nosie (Always B Miki) set a new track record for 4-year-old geldings in 1:48.2 in the $30,000 Open Pace on Saturday (July 2) at Eldorado Scioto Downs.
Leaving from the rail, Makin Some Noise got away second for Brett Miller behind Gd Western Joe (Austin Hanners). Despite an opening quarter in :26, the gelding popped the pocket and gained control of the field. Makin Some Noise was unchallenged throughout the remainder of the mile, setting fractions in :53.2 and 1:21.1 before tripping the wire in 1:48.2. Later Dudes (Tyler Smith) was second while Cody Hanover (Dan Noble) finished third.
MAKIN SOME NOISE REPLAY
The victory broke the previous track record of 1:48.4 set by Ocean Rock in 2020.
Unraced at two, Makin Some Noise has made quite the entrance into his racing career. Undefeated last year and now at the age of four, he has hit the board 18 of 21 lifetime starts. In 2022, Makin Some Noise has visited the winner’s circle seven times and bankrolled over $105,000. Edward Miller trains for Rebecca Sugg.
Brett Miller also took the $24,000 Open II Pace with Odds On Shaggy (Racing Hill) in 1:49.2. The Virgil Morgan Jr. trainee went gate to wire as the betting favorite. The 4-year-old gelding is owned by Odds On Racing. Modern Rock As (Brady Galliers) crossed the finish for second and Hardt At Work (Mike Micallef) completed the trifecta.
Live racing returns Monday (July 4) to Eldorado Scioto Downs for a special holiday card. Four divisions of the $150,000 Next Generation and a $35,000 Invitational Pace will highlight the program. First post is 3:15PM. For more information on the facility and live racing season, visit the Eldorado Scioto Downs website.
