Harness racing driver Brent Holland gave 5-1 mild longshot Man Dontforget Me (Manhardt) a perfect two-hole journey and she responded with a victory in the $39,000 Fillies & Mares Invitational Pace Friday (June 14) at Yonkers Raceway.
The 10th race feature got underway with race favorite Beach Cowgirl (George Brennan) scooting to the lead from post five and cutting the mile to the opening quarter in :27.4 over the track labeled good due to rain. Man Dontforget Me made the most of starting from the rail and was sitting second behind Beach Cowgirl.
They raced single file to the half mile marker in :56. Then going into the backstretch Karma Seelster (Austin Siegelman) came first-over to challenge, giving second-over cover to Lit De Rose (Daniel Dube). The three-quarters was reached in 1:23.4.
Beach Cowgirl was leading by one and one-half lengths at the top of the stretch, but three other contenders had their sights on the race leader and mowed her down coming to the wire with Man Donforget Me the fastest of all, winning by one and one-half lengths in 1:52. Karma Seelster closed well to be second with Lit De Rose third.
MAN DONTFORGET ME REPLAY
It was the third straight win and fourth of the season for Man Dontforget Me. The seven-year-old mare is trained by Travis Alexander for NY SEB, Inc. and she paid $13.00 to win.
