Divine Art (Outrageous Art) made it 16 wins in a row when she captured Sunday (Feb. 5) night’s $12,500 DHA Free-for-All for the filly and mare harness racing pacers at Cal Expo Harness.
Owned, trained and driven by 77-year-old Gerry Longo, the 4-year-old mare recorded the first dozen victories of the streak in her native Canada and has continued her winning ways since venturing to California and joining Longo’s barn.
Sent off at 1-5 in the Free-for -All, Divine Art was out to engage for the lead by the quarter, remained parked out to the stretch while battling pacesetter Blue Star Mystic (Luke Plano) and then came away when it counted down the stretch for a three and a quarter-length score in 1:53.2.
Give Me This Dance (Brad Irvine) rallied late to be second with Blue Star Mystic finishing third.
Undefeated in 2023 with three wins, Divine Art is also undefeated at Cal Expo with four straight wins.
DIVINE ART REPLAY
In the $15,500 Steve Wiseman Memorial Pace, it was all race favorite Unfiltered (Always A Virgin) and driver Lemoyne Svendsen as they led from start to finish, winning by three and a half lengths in 1:51.4. The pocket sitting Firenado (Brad Irvine) was second with Quarantini (James Lackey) third.
UNFILTERED REPLAY
A reminder that this week will see the trotters and pacers in action at Cal Expo on Friday and Saturday night, with no racing on Super Bowl Sunday.
